So here it is, your 14 day challenge to get HOT for Valentines!
8 Glasses of Water a day – we all know its good for us, and that we should be drinking 8 glasses- roughly 2 litres a day, but very few of us are actually doing it. This mostly comes down to us being out of the habit. Over the next 14 days we want to see you drinking your 8 glasses, or filling up a 2 litre bottle in the morning and sipping on it throughout the day. As soon as you get up in the morning have a cold refreshing glass of water to get the body going. Then have a glass by the sink, on your desk at work, or a bottle in your bag, and drink it regularly. Sipping it throughout the day, and not gulping down big glasses at once will eliminate the constant need to pee, as your body won’t just flush it straight through your system, but will actually use it for what it is needed for – helping your organs to function properly. You will feel more alert and energetic, your skin and eyes will be brighter, and all your organs will be working as they need to. Watch this space for a more detailed blog of the benefits of drinking water.
Next – No alcohol for 14 days! This may seem tough for some, and easy for others, depending on your lifestyle. But it is just 14 days out of your life to give your kidneys and liver a bit of recovery time. Alcohol contains a lot of sugar too, and is what is termed as empty calories – it has no nutritional benefit to the body. Most people find too that following a heavy drinking session, the next day they turn to calorific junk food to get them through a hangover. So cutting back could help you lose pounds, and again make you feel so much more energetic.
Lastly – No added sugar for 14 days! We want you to cut back on all the processed food that has added sugar – turn that packet over and take a look at the ingredients, is sugar, corn syrup, fructose, glucose, sucralose or any other “lose” anywhere high up on that list? Then avoid! Sugar is added to so many of our processed foods nowadays, to make it taste better and satisfy our demanding and changing palettes. By cutting it out, we can help our palettes and cravings change back to a more natural diet and beat this sugar addiction that so many of us have. So we mean cutting out on sweets, chocolate, fizzy and soft drinks, fruit yoghurts (although they are advertised as healthy and low fat, they can contain a lot of added sugar- try 0% greek yoghurt instead and add some fresh fruit to it yourself), high sugar cereals (try oats, shredded wheat or weetabix instead if you like cereal), basically anything that has added sugar. By doing this you will find that instead of eating too many processed foods, you will start to eat a more natural diet- eating foods that look like how they actually grew or walked! Go back to basics!
Ok, on top of these 3 simple changes, we will be giving you challenges throughout the 2 weeks to get more active too – fun workouts and little things that you can try throughout the day to make you HOT for Valentines! This challenge is not as tough as it sounds, within a couple of days you’ll be in the swing of it and making those healthy choices. Have Fun and keep us updated on how you’re getting on and what changes it is making to your body!
