Love it or loathe it, Valentines Day is here and whilst we can’t promise flowers, we can promise to get your heart racing with this short interval workout. It will take you less than 10 minutes so why not show your body some love and give it a go!
Warm up for four or five minutes with some jogging on the spot, star jumps, squats and lunges then set your phone or fitness timer for 20 seconds hard work with 10 seconds rest between each exercise:
High knees – run fast on the spot, lifting knees up to waist height with each step.
Burpees – (see our ‘exercises we love page’ for burpee technique) power through as many as possible in 20 seconds with good form!
Tuck jumps – jump high, lifting both feet off the floor together, pulling knees up and into the chest. Land softly with knees bent.
Mountain climbers – from a basic press up position, jump switch feet back and forward keeping body low to the ground and abs tight.
Work as hard as you can to complete as many of each exercise as possible whilst keeping good form. 20 seconds of each exercise with 10 seconds break (if you’re working hard, you’ll need this time to catch your breath!) Repeat twice straight through for a total time of 4 minutes. Make sure you cool down with a gentle jog in place and some stretches until heart rate returns to normal. Happy Healthy Heart Day!
